Here at Simply Upholstery, you work at your own pace! We will teach you professional skills in upholstery and soft furnishings, from the very basics to the advanced, both traditional and modern.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
You will spend time patterning up furniture, to completely stripping it down to recreate your own unique piece! You can also spend time in specialist classes! Learn how to sew and use a sewing machine. The best part is, you don’t need any experience! You can learn how to make: box cushions, piped cushions, roman blinds and curtains, chairs and more. This is not the complete list! You can buy you own piece, pick a fabric and bring them to our class. You can see some of the amazing work in our gallery.
WHAT YOU NEED
- The necessary professional equipment is available for student use, including sewing machines. Students are expected to bring their own basic tools. A list of some tools is as follows:
- Soft Tape Measure
- Small Headed Hammer Wooden Mallet
- Flat headed pliars
- Old flat headed screwdriver, old chisel or ripping chisel
- Staple remover (not for paper staples)
- A staple gun and staples
- Hard scissors for cutting material
YOUR WORK
We leave the choice of project entirely up to you!
Unfortunately, we are unable to store large items of furniture, but, if you are able to transport your project to the centre, we can help you to unload it each week.
